Christmas vacation couldn't come fast enough for all of us. We had so many things to see in just five days. First stop on our agenda, Rothenburg. This is our second visit to this beautiful town. I absolutely love all the colorful buildings.
I'm trying to collect gluhwein glasses from all of the Christmas markets during our time here. I think it will make for great conversation over a cup of coffee when we have family and friends over.
Kinsley dancing to the beat of her own drum.
All the colors!!!!!!!!
After some wine and food, we were on our way to Nuremberg for the market and a place to crash for the night.
I really wanted an angel tree topper that looked just like this one. No such luck.
Trying to take a picture while you're up front in a horse drawn carriage. Not easy. Kinsley picking her nose is the icing on the cake.
We stopped by the kids Christmas market on our way back to the car. Kinsley was pretty much done at this point. But she was up for a ride on the carousel and created a sand art masterpiece.
Gingerbread in the making.
Munich on day two. Didn't take very many pictures because it was kind of rainy and we've been here once before.
We couldn't leave the city without getting some chocolate from our favorite store.
Garmisch Partenkirchen is where we finished our last few days of vacation. The Edelweiss resort was amazing and we're already planning another trip back to the area next summer. We kept our first day simple; Christmas market, ice skating and driving around the city. Brian called it the Aspen of Germany. Surrounded by snow covered mountains. It's just too bad we didn't have any snow on the ground to play in.
The ski jump from the 1936 Winter Olympics. You can see the smaller jumps off to the left. It doesn't look so bad on tv, but once you see it in person.
OH.
MY.
WORD.
No way could I do that.
Just playing around in the lobby before dinner.
On the menu tonight a plate of black olives and chicken with a side of orange jello.
Friday morning we hopped on a train and spent the day in Innsbruck Austria. One more country marked off the list.
The Golden Roof was built for Emperor Maximilian I as his royal box. He could sit in luxury while he watched tournaments in the square. The roof has 2,600 gold plated copper tiles. It was also considered a gift to his second wife.
Kinsley was such a trooper through our adventures this trip, so we took her to the zoo while we were in Innsbruck.
Kinsley wanted to take our picture.
All the buildings painted in pastels are old medieval houses. This separates the old town from the new parts of the city.
We stumbled across this gem on our way to the Old town square. I saw a card on the table through the window that said juicy lucy. If you've seen the episode of Triple D then you know what I'm talking about. Well this place had their version of the juicy lucy. So we had to eat lunch here.
Neither of us got the juicy lucy but the burgers and fries were delicious. I've never had a burger with pickled onions but I would get them again. Didn't take a picture of Kinsley's lunch but she had their homemade mac n' cheese.
Wasting a little time in the train station.
Our vacation flew by. It always seems like it takes forever to get here and then in a blink of an eye it's over. As much as we love going on vacation, it's always nice to get back home and in a routine once again. A few family photos from our session before heading home.
And last but not least a picture of my mugs to add to the collection. I think I did alright this year!
Ciao!
