My Godparents are the first of many visitors this year. I have to say we had a blast with them. Never a dull moment with JP around. He's definitely the life of the party. Straight off the plane and we were on our way to our first stop. No time to waste.
Burg Eltz
Burg Eltz
A few photos from the outside of the castle and the small gallery with armory and other articles of the castle's history. Couldn't take pictures while we were inside. We also didn't get a full tour because part of the castle is still used by the Eltz family. Brian and I had looked at it last year while my mom was visiting but it was closed for the winter.
Please. No pictures.
One of my favorite pictures.
Hiking to and from the castle. I can't tell if Jeff was waving or faking a heart attack in this picture.
An abundance of yellow flowers everywhere we went. It had been years since I had an issue with allergies and now they were back. The flowers are known as rapeseed and they're used to make rapeseed oil, also known as canola oil.
Nanstein Ruins
Almost a year later and I've finally visited the Nanstein ruins on the other side of the autobahn. Lights and sound system equipment set up around the grounds. They use the ruins for theater productions and festivals.
Kinsley telling me to stop with the pictures and hurry up.
Brussels Belgium
One thing we've learned while traveling is that most larger cities have hop on hop off buses. It's a great way to get around and see as much as you can in a day. There were several things we didn't have time to visit but we still had a busy day. Things would've turned out differently if we hadn't gotten stuck in a line at the botanical gardens. We thought it would be nice to just walk through since they had it open to the public that weekend.
At first it didn't seem too overly crowded but we eventually came to a halt. An hour later we were finally out of there. We even tried to use the kid as a excuse to get out of the line and back on track with our day. But there was only one way in and one way out.
Pretty. But never again.
This is what the line was for...
The Atomium is a unit cell of an iron crystal magnified 165 billion times. Pretty cool.
Interesting group of people playing some music in the square.
If we lived in Belgium I would eat waffles everyday. They were heaven. For two euros I got a waffle with fresh cream and homemade caramel sauce.
As my friend Jan Thomason would say...
OH BABY!!!!
The Grand Place (town square).
The Manneken Pis, also le Petit Julien. This bronze statue is a landmark for Brussels that came to be in 1619. He is the size of a doll and had over several hundred costumes. We saw him everywhere.
Ciao!
