Mi Amigo Emily!

After a brief visit with my good pal Emily while we were home, we both agreed that it was a must for her to hop over the pond for a visit. Well one month later and here we are greeting her at the airport.

Don't you just love Emily's outfit. No time to change after that long flight, we've got things to do.

Strasbourg, France

Notre Dame Cathedral in Strasbourg is the largest sandstone building in the world.

Bern, Switzerland

A quick visit with the bears at the park.

I find it fascinating that they have many fountains around the city with drinkable water. To me, they look like your average fountain that you normally wouldn't dare drink out of. But everyone was doing it, so why not.

While doing some research on things to see in Bern, we came across a list with different water fountain statues from the 16th century. This one in particular popped up more than others. The Kindlifresserbrunnen is a bogeyman figure gobbling up children. This was used to help scare kids straight. We didn't have it this mapped out on our walk but it was nice that we stumbled upon it.

Next stopover... Einstein's home from 1903 to 1905. Kinsley was starting to wake up once we got inside but before she could tell us there was an issue with her diaper, she had pee trickling down her leg. We had to clean her up as best as possible, finish going through the house and get out to find somewhere to change her. Yup, Kinsley left her mark on Einstein's house. I've told this story to my friends and they all have had something like this happen at some point during their travels through Europe.

Going to the mountaintop park (Gurten) was beautiful. A view of the city and the mountains. How could you not go there everyday if you lived in Bern. Fields to lay out and soak up some rays. Parks and trails. Plus, there's a nice restaurant/cafe as well.

Thank you for coming to hang with us Emily. We have always enjoyed having you over no matter where the military life takes us.

Ciao!
